2016 – 24 Swim-A-Thon – Multiple Sclerosis

Hi everyone,

If any/all of these things appeal to you or your child then read on further!

Each year I participate in the MS 24 hour Mega Swim to raise awareness and funds to help those with Multiple Sclerosis and this year I would love your child’s and your help.
MS is a CNS disease affecting approximately 2.5 million and growing people worldwide and causes many difficulties for those who have it and their families. There is no known cure for MS so money is needed to make homes and facilities accessible, provide therapy and other medical services to those affected, help with medical expenses, and provide support and accommodation/respite where needed. Raising these funds isn’t easy and so we need your help.

WHAT: 24 hour Mega swim – someone from each team must be in the water at all times and you rotate through swimming amongst your team.

WHERE: AIS, Bruce Canberra.

WHEN: 12pm Saturday 30th April to 12pm Sunday 1st May.

Please note: You don’t have to be there for the whole time, any time you can give is much appreciated. You can come for a little bit, come, go away and then come back again, or you can stay the whole time, it is completely up to you!

Not only is this events an awesome opportunity for your child (and you) yo get involved in helping those in the community and across Australia who need it, but it will also be a great opportunity for the kids to bond as a team and have a lot of fun. Speaking from personal experience as someone who has done it for the past 5 years (and had very very little sleep every time), you may get sleep deprived and tired but you have a fantastic time and really get a sense of teamwork and accomplishment throughout the event.

You can register to join the team (AQUA BURST) online at this address:

No rush to join as you can sign up right until day before, however the sooner you sign up, the sooner we can work everything out including schedules and perhaps organising bringing team food, games etc! Let’s get as many as we can on board and really make a fun, team event out of it!!

If joining up and swimming doesn’t interest you or your child there are other ways to support, feel free to spread the word about the event and donations are also a large part, so feel free to click the link above and then head to the donations section and give some money, any amount is an incredible help so any little bit you can spare is greatly appreciated.

I will have further details and more organisation closer to the time once you have all signed up, but feel free to contact me if you have an questions or concerns. Even just drop me an email or a text to say that your child is signing up.
Contact number: 0423 927 894
Email: jessica.hood@optusnet.com.au

Look forward to hearing from you all seeing you joining the team.
